“Notes from the Korydallos prisons Shakespeare’s theatre workshop”
By Stratis Panourios
.Dramaturgy of Shakespeare does not create money from its plays but it creates the people who create it. That is because it creates value inside the humans.
.Because Shakespeare is intelligent insofar as we are intelligent. Shakespeare becomes what we think and feel, because it is an infinite response, he is all possibilities.
.Because at Shakespeare you can see the unseen and hear what has no sound.
.Because he creates a spiritual invitation and challenge to reflect on unification of life.
.Because the First Act is connected with the Fourth Act and what we call the future already exists there. Then the Fourth Act is associated with the Third Act and the Third Act is associated with the Fifth Act. While we believe that the cause of a thing is earlier in time than its effect, Shakespeare from the Second Act implies that the future can affect our past.
.Why does he constantly whisper to you that man can make himself immortal.
.Because it is a vast unexplored inner country in which all fears, desires, longings, feelings, intrigues, uncertainties, our hatreds, fantasies, ambitions, loves and conjectures nest. All these invisible landscapes that constitute ourselves.
.Because you cannot do something else.
.Because you will learn how “will” is formed.
.Because the theater gave birth to dialogue.
.Because nothing is impossible. The impossible just takes more time.
.Because he proves that man is nothing but a patchwork of habits.
.Because the first week you can host Malvolio in your house, the next King Lear and the next Lady Macbeth. Few actors will ever play these roles anyway, at least why not make sure you meet them even once in your life?
.Why would you shout in surprise: “what on earth i have been doing!”
.Because he is a global citizen.
.Because he shouts with thunders that one of the greatest diseases of humanity that thrives in the cave of our mind is the identification with our false personality that plunges us into a deeper dormancy.
.Because he has written about the lovers, the children, the crazy, and the drunk, and those are the ones who possess the truth.
.Because it shows that things do not happen the way we want but we must learn to think how they happen.
.Because his words meet each other for the first time every time we hear them.
.Because it allows the director to learn from his mistakes.
.Because he is present everywhere in our lives.
.Because he constantly creates action on stage.
.Because the past is in front of us.
.Because he does love the actor.
.Because it has given jobs to millions of people on earth.
.Because he reveals the dual nature of man, the understanding of the inner struggle within man.
.Because it is a weather phenomenon. Eternally it reproduces itself every time you mention its name.
.Faces in Shakespeare are getting doubled, divide, are getting lost, condense but only one consciousness dominates, that of the actor. For Shakespeare there are no secrets, inconsistencies, hesitations, shadows, reflections because he is not judging, not criticizing, nor explains but on a fluid reality he embroiders new motives of existences. A mix of memories, absurdities and the thirst for a life on a note of sadness and sorrow which pulsates windless inside his walls.
.Because Richard III is awake in a sleeping society.
.Because the wisdom of this world is a speck in front of the theater of life.
.Why is it always a good time to start an MA or a PhD with him,
.Because the meaning for someone who is serious is to take nothing very serious except the things that are truly serious like the awaken.
.Because it proves that experience is the wisest of all.
.Because “all the are is dust in the wind”
.Because he teaches you through its monologues to handle the depth of knowledge, the breadth of understanding and the superiority of a person’s purpose.
.Because fear drives people crazy.
.Because Shakespeare’s organization “Behind Bars” has been around for almost three decades.
.Because he can be played anywhere.
.Because the artist is mainly thirsty to convey emotion and his experience and not only information.
.Why his mega data is not decoded with computers but with the meeting of people.
.Because the future beyond Artificial Intelligence is Mental Intelligence.
.Because man on this Earth is in a very strange position.
.Because only art can speak and has the right to speak.
.Because Nikos Kazanztakis, author of Zorba the Greek, travelled to England and wrote a book about his impressions. In the long chapter on Shakespeare, he says:
«An infinite spirit, from the depths of hell to the summit of Paradise. If the whole of humanity was to send a single representative to speak for its rights before God, it would send him. He is also the only one who could represent our planet at some giant interplanetary conference. No one ever used human speech with such power and at the same time such sweetness as Shakespeare, with such harshness and at the same time such melody and so magical an aura.»
